What is new
Improvements reach every venue on their own, with nothing to install and nothing extra to pay. This is what arrived, and when, in plain words.
Stock, end of day, and every site under one login
The biggest week for shops so far. The till now keeps the stock, closes the day with a proper Z report, prints VAT by rate, and lets a manager put right what a cashier got wrong without touching the books. An owner with more than one shop or restaurant runs them all from one login.
- Stock that keeps itself: tracked products leave the shelf as they sell and come back if a sale is voided. Deliveries, stocktakes and waste are recorded with a name and a reason, and a history explains every number. Low stock turns amber.
- Corrections after the sale: say what a line really was, or what VAT it counts at. The receipt and the money stay as they were; stock and the reports follow.
- End of day: the X report any time, the Z report when you close, any range of days for the accountant. Printed on the receipt printer or emailed, with the cash that should be in the drawer.
- VAT by rate on receipts, set per category or per product, so a receipt for bread and wine shows each rate correctly.
- All sites: add your other shops and restaurants under the same login, switch between them at the top of every page, and see them side by side.
- Four-digit PINs that sign in on the last digit, and a way to see your password as you type it on the login page.
Ready for Tap to Pay on a handheld card terminal
The till is ready to run on a handheld card terminal as well as on a tablet, so staff can take the card on the same device they rang the sale on. Venues get it as the handhelds arrive.
- A Tap to Pay button on the bill screen when the till runs on the handheld. The customer taps, the sale is recorded with the transaction reference and the card type, and the receipt is ready.
- Refunds on the same device behind a manager PIN.
- If the screen is reloaded mid-payment, the till asks the device what happened and records it; nothing taken from a customer can go missing from the books.
The cash drawer, and the printer you already own
Two things that stopped shops moving to Tradeinit are gone: the cash drawer now works, and so does a receipt printer plugged into a Windows till.
- The cash drawer pops on cash sales, and a manager can open it without a sale with their PIN. Every no-sale open is listed.
- An Epson receipt printer on a Windows till, the kind most small shops already have, prints receipts and tickets through a small helper installed from the Receipt printer page.
- Shops get their own Offers (staff, friends and family, trade), their own roles (Cashier, Manager, Owner) and a till laid out by category.
- The dashboard installs as an app on a phone or tablet.
Card machines from the POS, accredited
Sending a bill from the POS to a card machine passed the card provider's accreditation, so a venue's machines can be driven from the till rather than typed into by hand.
- Sale, contactless, declines with a retry on the same payment, signatures, cancellations from the machine or the till, refunds through the machine, and refunds with no sale behind them.
- A machine that is busy, switched off or offline is refused before a bill is sent to it, and every message on the till is in plain words.
Settings in one place, help on every page, the AI assistant
A tidier dashboard for owners, with short help where it is needed and the assistant as a page of its own.
- Everything you set up once now lives under one Settings gear; the sidebar is shorter and grouped by Today, What you sell and Reports.
- A help page with short answers for every screen, and a question mark on each page that opens the relevant ones.
- The AI assistant page: today's and the week's figures beside an Ask box that answers from your own numbers, with the Telegram conversation alongside.
- A barcode scanner test page and a payments page for new venues.
A till for shops: barcodes and sales at the counter
Tradeinit now runs a shop counter, not only a restaurant floor.
- Products carry a barcode, and any USB or Bluetooth scanner at the till finds them at once. A product the till does not know asks for a name and a price and is saved on the spot.
- Sales at the counter with no table, numbered through the day, with a Charge button.
- Products imported from a spreadsheet out of the old till: name, price, barcode and category columns are recognised on their own.
Takeaway sales, tablets you can see, and your own colours
Small things that matter on a busy night.
- Takeaway and counter sales without a table, numbered through the day; tickets and receipts say so.
- The POS locks itself after three minutes without a touch. Every tablet signed in to the POS is listed on the Team page and can be signed out on its own.
- The dashboard in Tradeinit's look, or in your venue's own colours, under Settings, Appearance.
Extras that add up, priority tickets, changing a sent round
- Extras groups on menu items that add to the price (oat milk, extra shot), with one pricing rule shared by the guest's phone and the waiter POS.
- One-tap kitchen notes per category and per venue, on the POS and when changing a round.
- Priority rounds: a banner on the ticket and pinned first on kitchen and bar screens.
- Change a round after it was sent: fewer, removed or a note. The kitchen gets a CHANGED ticket with only the moves and the bill follows.
- Kitchen and bar screens: recall any bumped ticket, tickets older than three hours fold away.
- Extras and kitchen notes counted in the nightly email and on the Takings page.
- Business type (restaurant, cafe, bar, shop) chosen when a venue is created; the dashboard words and pages follow it.
- Tradeinit's own look across the dashboard and the website.
Menu import from photos
- Photograph the paper menu and the dashboard reads it into categories, items, sizes, choices, mixers, allergens and dietary marks.
- Anything the paper does not settle (half pints, measures, missing prices, kitchen or bar) comes back as a question for the owner before anything is added.
- Adding to the menu is additive only: existing items are never changed, unpriced lines are skipped.
Printed bills and VAT receipts, tablets without a login
- Print a bill or a numbered VAT receipt from the POS to any printer: logo, address, phone, VAT number, who served, date, order numbers, VAT inside the total, how it was paid, a Google review QR.
- A Receipts page in the dashboard to edit the layout with a live preview, with every receipt listed and searchable. Reprinting keeps the same number and is marked COPY.
- Install the POS on a tablet from a link; the home-screen icon opens straight on 'Who is serving?' with no venue login on the device. Revoke every tablet from Team in one tap.
The waiter POS, and a card page for Tradeinit payments
- Staff PINs on the Team page; waiters sign in by name and PIN.
- Floor with open tabs, a round builder with sizes, measures and mixers, send to kitchen and bar, pay later.
- Bill as a whole, split evenly or by items; cash, card at the bar, or a QR for the guest's phone; void with a manager PIN.
- Allergens: fourteen-allergen ticks per dish, a public allergen page per venue, and a banner on every menu.
- An 'email me offers' consent tick at checkout and at booking.
Ready for venue two
- A venue without its own payment account can no longer take card payments by accident.
- Owner and station logins created from the dashboard; a station login opens the kitchen and bar screens and nothing else.
- A light per printer on the Printers page, and a single-printer mode for small kitchens.
- A setup checklist for new venues.
Kitchen and bar displays, bookings
- Standalone kitchen and bar displays for any tablet or TV, with sound on new tickets, bump and recall.
- Table bookings on the venue's page with deposits that scale by party size, occasions, and extras sold at booking time.
- A security review completed: secrets locked down, return pages derived on the server, test pages removed.
Both printers live, permanent QR codes checked
- Kitchen and bar printers both collecting tickets directly from Tradeinit's servers, with zero failed prints in August.
- A check that every engraved table code still loads, every table still exists, and the venue accepts permanent codes.
Hours, Happy Hour and codes
- Opening hours and kitchen hours per day, enforced when an order is placed, with a 'kitchen closes in' note on the menu.
- Happy Hour pricing and Friends & Family codes applied automatically at checkout, with every redemption logged.
- Refunds need a PIN, and every refund is logged with a reason.
Live at Brilliant Gastro
- QR order and pay on the venue's own menu, colours and logo.
- Card, Apple Pay and Google Pay, with every order verified on the server before it prints.
- Order numbers per venue per day, running orders for tables already eating, a nightly takings email.
